The Kitchen House goal is to create an edible education experience. The Orlando Junior Academy strongly believes in experiential learning and the Kitchen House brings that to both their students and the Orlando community. The experience starts with growing and harvesting food from their large organic garden, which is being preserved during the construction process. Then it continues in the kitchen with hands on prepping and cooking meals. It is designed for hands-on experiential learning.

The project has many sustainable attributes. It is a redevelopment site situated in a well-developed community having both access to SunRail and most basic services. The collection of rain water from the roof will provide the water needed for the garden. The space is bright with natural daylight and has lighting and mechanical controls for each individual space.
